RIOU graduate Frank Appiah Kusi: a story of success

Frank is currently serving as an Assistant Lecturer in Sport Management at the School of Sports and Exercise Medicine, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghana. Recently, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis and is now making impactful contributions as a professor and academic leader in the field of sport governance and development.

On April 6th, in celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, Dr. Kusi made a notable presentation that was featured by one of Ghana’s leading media outlets. In his words: “I made a presentation on the International Day of Sport for Development and it has been captured by a reputable media in Ghana”.

In the article, Dr. Kusi emphasized the importance of intentional efforts from governments in promoting sport for development, stating that sport is not just about competition but a powerful tool for social change, peace-building, and youth empowerment.

“My contribution to the body of knowledge in Sport Management stems from my advanced education at Russian International Olympic University, RIOU, Sochi, with the exposure, enlightenment and leadership of renowned professors... RIOU has helped shape my thoughts, beliefs and understanding in the area of Sport Management and I am most grateful”.

Dr. Kusi was also recently invited as a panelist in the Global Webinar: Sport and Democracy, hosted by the International Platform for Sport and Development, where he shared his insights on the intersection between sport and democratic values.

We are incredibly proud of Dr. Frank Appiah Kusi and the meaningful work he is doing to shape sport policy and education in Ghana and beyond. His journey exemplifies the global impact of RIOU graduates and the power of sport to drive development.
