The Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) has announced the results of its international scholarship competition, which was first administered in 2013 and has since become one of the world’s most prestigious grant programmes in the field of sports management. In the coming September, the RIOU campus in Sochi will welcome 24 scholarship winners, who will study on the Master of Sport Administration (MSA) professional retraining course.
The new MSA intake comprises students from 12 different countries of the world. Apart from Russia, the largest number of scholarship holders hail from China, India, Uganda and Pakistan. For the first time, the MSA class will include students from Zambia and the Philippines, thus extending RIOU’s geographic reach to 89 countries.
Among the scholarship winners are employees of organising committees of major international sports events, nominees of National Olympic Committees, sports federations, university sport institutions and professional sports clubs, as well as athletes, coaches and sports instructors. Most fellows have extensive volunteer experience in their own countries and beyond, and many are recipients of student awards.
Some of the successful candidates were nominated by RIOU’s partner organisations. Indian sports university Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal (H.V.P.M.) will send two of its graduates to RIOU, and the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports (CUPES, Beijing) will be represented by four fellows.
The MSA students will learn about the main algorithms operating within the sports industry based on real-life cases and best practices. They will develop skills in conducting sports research, as well as undertaking practical training at major sports organisations in Russia. The MSA faculty comprises acclaimed experts in the field of sports management from 8 countries.
We heartily congratulate the winners and wish them an exciting journey into the world of international sports management!
