On 22 June, delegations of the countries participating in the BRICS Sports Games visited the display "Conquerors of Olympus. Exhibition of artefacts from the Vladimir Potanin Collection" organised by the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) in cooperation with the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan and the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan. Among the guests were senior sports officials from India, Brazil and Azerbaijan: SAI Director General Mr. Sandip Pradhan, a renowned Brazilian basketball player, National Secretary, Ministry of Sports of Brazil Ms. Iziane ("Izi") Castro Marques, Azerbaijan Chef de Mission for 2024 Olympic Games Mr. Elnur Mammadov.
The international delegations were welcomed by RIOU Rector, full member of the Russian Academy of Education Lev Belousov. The guests were given a tour of the display featuring over 180 artefacts from all summer and winter Olympic Games – winner’s and commemorative medals, Olympic torches, diplomas and other memorabilia. They were especially impressed by the classical images on early Olympic diplomas that were “brought to life” by the AI technology in the central part of the exhibition.
The guests also discussed opportunities for international students provided by RIOU’s Scholarship Programme. The RIOU scholarship covers tuition and accommodation in Sochi over 7 months for students studying on the university’s professional retraining course “Master of Sport Administration”, with instruction in the English language. The course has produced over 200 graduates representing 77 countries.
At the end of the meeting the participants posed for a collective photograph and left their comments in the distinguished visitors’ book.
