In 1982 graduated with distinction from Volgograd State Institute of Physical Education (area of specialization - Physical Education and Sport).
USSR Master of Sport in swimming. Doctor of Pedagogy. Professor at the Department for Theory and Methods in Competitive Swimming and Synchronized Swimming, Water Aerobics, Diving and Water Polo of the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism.
Has authored over 70 publications on the theoretical and methodological aspects of sport, including textbooks, study guides, monographs and research papers.
In 2016 was appointed as Director of the Department of Research and Education of the Russian Ministry of Sport.
Has been awarded the Sport Ministry’s merit badge ‘Exemplary Work in the Area of Physical Education and Sport’ (2011).
