Lev Belousov
Rector of the Russian International Olympic University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education, Doctor in History, professor.

Born 19 April 1955 in Moscow.
Graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) with a degree in History and embarked on a postgraduate course at the same Faculty.
In 1982, he defended his thesis leading to the degree of the Candidate of Sciences and joined the MSU Department of Modern and Contemporary History of European and American Countries as an assistant professor. In 1999 he completed his doctoral thesis.
In 2008, he became Head of the MSU Department of Modern and Contemporary History of European and American Countries, and in 2018 he was appointed Acting Dean of the MSU Faculty of History.
He currently holds the title of Distinguished Professor of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Lev Belousov has authored more than 200 scholarly publications, including over 20 textbooks and monographs on political history of Western countries, state-society relationships, as well the history of the Olympic Movement. As a visiting professor, he has lectured at the universities of Rome, Florence, Milan and Parma.
In 2001-2010, he was Deputy CEO of international relations at the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, running a series of large-scale international projects in the fields of corporate management, culture and sport.
In 2010, he was appointed General Director of the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU), and in 2013 he became the RIOU Rector.

Chairman of the board of directors of the Alumni Foundation of the MSU Faculty of History.
In 2014, by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Lev Belousov was awarded the Order of Merit to the Fatherland 1st class, celebrating his prominent role in establishing the Russian International Olympic University.
In 2016, by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation he was granted the title of Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
In 2016, Lev Belousov was elected Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Education, becoming its Full Member (Academician) in 2019.
In 2020, by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation he was decorated with the Order of Honour for his remarkable achievements in promoting fitness and sport and many years of dedicated work.
In 2022, he was awarded Honorary Professor of Jilin University (Changchun, China) for his contribution to promoting science and education and strengthening Russian-Chinese relations.
